What a joy to read. I work at Costco and am a GenXer and oh.my.god to I feel you on all of this. And I needed the laugh today, too. Going in at 11…but seriously you capture the fuckery of this world we are living in now with the humor i need to help me get through this shit.
This was great. The generational app idea makes me wanna write a follow up about what it’s like to go to Costco with my 81 year old mom and my 19 year old daughter. It always makes me feel borderline suicidal.
What’s worse is when they go together without me. Last time my daughter spent $250 on multipack cosmetic products, the bill for which was handed to me by my mother in the form of a footlong receipt with highlighting and scribbles and multiple attempts to incorrectly figure out the tax on all that shit. My blood pressure was thru the roof that day.
The parking lot monitor app gives me an idea for your next column: the cars you and your friends drove in high school and/or college. No one drives cars like that anymore. I’ve got an orange VW thing and a banana yellow late 60’s model dodge dart in my collection of buddy cars. What about you?
That is a good idea. My cars weren’t too crazy. Though I’ve had my share of adventures with them. I had an ‘84 Honda Accord hatchback for my first. I’ve traveled through plenty of others in my time, including a fun (yet cursed) Mitsubishi Eclipse that was bright red.
I hear you with your mom and daughter. I have four girls (16 later this month, 18, 20, 23 on Monday), and my mom is 83 and was in town for the 18-year-old’s graduation this week. Holy shit, am I drained.
Thanks for the read and comment. I appreciate it a ton.

Well, damn, thanks for the read and such a kind comment. I appreciate it.
I’m glad you enjoyed it. I hope your shift goes well.
Keep on keeping on (through the shit).

I know, right? It can be done. Even more, it should be. Get on it, Costco. Get yer shit together.
